This large vintage milk can has a mushroom or umbrella top lid and stands about two feet tall. It has lettering on the lid, that indicates this is an ALTA milk can. There is lettering on the side that appears to read: C S REG CAL. This ten gallon milk can was used by Crystal Cream and Butter of Sacramento, California. Their milk cans were usually stamped: C C & B CO SACTO REG CAL.
Milk cans were used for transporting dairy products from farms until the 1940s and 1950s, and came in 5, 8, and 10 gallon sizes.
This vintage dairy can has been refurbished in yellow and green, and can be used to hold flowers or other decorations.
